Bio
Caroline Carlisle has worked in the business and non‐profit realm for more than ten years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia in printmaking, while also running a gallery and coordinating an international art exchange with artists from Russia and the U.S. After moving to Nashville, she took a position at the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority where she directed the Arts at the Airport public art program that is designed for more than 11 million passengers per year.

During this time, she implemented various programs and projects including a collaborative project with the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists (TACA) that resulted in live artist demonstrations in the airport terminal during peak travel times. She was also at the forefront of the first national meeting of airport art managers and has been asked to speak on varied topics including funding mechanisms for airport art programs.

In 2007, she returned to Arts at the Airport and serves as the Curator of the program. She is currently managing two large‐scale public art projects with combined budgets of more than a half a million dollars. Additional responsibilities include: management of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s collection of more than 240 original artworks by Tennessee artists; fund development and grant writing for two key programs: the Flying Solo Exhibition Series and the continuing partnership with TACA; community exhibit development and coordination: most recently an exhibit of the Art of the Lost Boys of Sudan, which was featured in USA Today; and the planning, coordination and installation of more than 25 individual exhibitions each year.

In addition, she secured funding from the Cracker Barrel Foundation and is currently managing a large scale outdoor memorial to enslaved individuals, entitled: Our Peace by Aaron Lee Benson at The Hermitage, Home of Andrew Jackson.

She is a graduate of the Young Leaders Council, and has served on various non‐profit boards including the Nashville Zoo , Inter‐Museum Council of Nashville, Senior Center for the Arts and graduated from the 2006 Leadership Donelson‐Hermitage class.

In 2006, she launched Twist Art Gallery in the historic Arcade in downtown Nashville with artist Beth Gilmore and was instrumental in the creation of the arts colony and downtown destination Art at the Arcade. Twist is a creative engine for exciting art experiences (and experiments!) ranging from full‐scale art environments, performance art, independent music and boutique‐style affordable art shopping. Twist is one of the founding members of the popular First Saturday Gallery Crawl in downtown Nashville, which draws hundreds of participants each month.
